Residents of Carbon County are thrilled with thecompletion of the new 33,000 SF Senior Center located on the fairgrounds in Price. Scott P. Evans was the Architect on the project. It features a steel frame with load bearing masonry walls, single-ply membrane roofing system and architectural wood trusses. Masonry used is imported, Indigenous India sandstone and includes an exterior simulated coal band that captures the reality of the coal veins in the local mines—providing a connection to the city’s founding industry. Interior elements include a full commercial kitchen, workout room, library, computer training classroom, billiards room, movie theater, ceramics studio, medical clinic, multi-functional room with patio and offices for the Center’s staff.
“The input of our seniors was absolutely of primary importance and all of their input was joined with the needs of the community to meet increasing demand for space for all activities that Carbon County is involved with. We believe that we have accomplished this and will have a multi-functional building that not only meets the needs of our senior community but also the needs of the community in general.”
–Mike Milovich, Carbon County Commissioner
