Welcome to Sam Weller's Bookstore
We currently have approximately 150,000 used and rare books online. While this total is growing by about 2,000 titles a week, it represents only a fraction of the million plus titles in our bookstore. We have hundreds of thousands of new books in stock and have access through publishers to virtually any new books still in print. So if you do not see your new or used book on our site, feel free to contact us to request a book.
David Sedaris comes Sam Weller's Bookstore for a free reading and signing with his latest book, Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk.
Featuring David Sedaris's unique blend of hilarity and heart, this new collection of keen-eyed animal-themed tales is an utter delight. Though the characters may not be human, the situations in these stories bear an uncanny resemblance to the insanity of everyday life.
In "The Toad, the Turtle, and the Duck," three strangers commiserate about animal bureaucracy while waiting in a complaint line. In "Hello Kitty," a cynical feline struggles to sit through his prison-mandated AA meetings. In "The Squirrel and the Chipmunk," a pair of star-crossed lovers is separated by prejudiced family members.
Containing original illustrations by Ian Falconer, author of the bestselling Olivia series of children's books, these stories are David Sedaris at his most observant, poignant, and surprising.
With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, David Sedaris has become one of America’s pre-eminent humor writers. The great skill with which he slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness proves that Sedaris is a master of satire and one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today.
David Sedaris is the author Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, as well as collections of personal essays, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, and When You Are Engulfed in Flames, each of which became a bestseller. Sedaris’s pieces appear regularly in The New Yorker and have twice been included in “The Best American Essays.”
The reading is un-ticketed and will begin at 7:00 PM. After the reading, Mr. Sedaris will sign everyone's books. We are issuing free tickets for the signing in order to keep the signing line manageable. Tickets are available now with the purchase of any David Sedaris title from Sam Weller's Bookstore. Tickets will be available without a purchase on Saturday, November 27th.
November's hardboiled selection is Barrel Fever by David Sedaris.
