Each American generates approximately 4.5 pounds of trash per day

Our Recycling Center processes over 12,000 tons of material per year.

DID YOU KNOW?
Recycling one ton of paper saves the equivalent of 17 trees, saves enough energy to power an average home for six months, saves 7,000 gallons of water, and keeps 60 pounds of pollutants out of the air.

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a television, or operate a computer for three hours.

Dunn Recycling was established to assist the communities of Utah in their recycling efforts. We process Recycling for commercial haulers, large cities and counties to return the materials back to the manufactures to be made into new products.

After we collect the materials we need to separate them by grade Cardboard, plastics by type and color, paper by type and color and by type.
Once they are separated we need to bale them. The bailing is done to compress the materials for shipping.

Once they are baled, we send to various remanufacturers to be remade into new products.
Our first priority is to sell products back to Utah. That keeps our economy strong.
Our concrete, asphalt, metals and wood chips are all Utah Products.
Our cardboard, newspaper and office paper mostly goes to the Pacific Northwest to be remanufactured into more cardboard and other paper products.
Plastic to the West Coast and sometimes to China.

Pat Dunn has an extensive knowledge of all components of the recycling businesses He worked for the last 35 years in construction and international business. His experience and global business contacts help us to find worldwide markets for our products. With his worldwide network of contacts and experience, he is establishing a network and distribution system that will position Dunn Recycling as a global player in the recycled commodities business.
Benito Olmos is the operation manager of Dunn Recycling. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations and production for our recycling centers. Benito has been in the materials processing business for over 10 years working for Waste Management and DCD Transfer and understands all aspects of the recycling business.

We are a private business and receive no subsidies to offset our operational costs. We must operate on profits to continue to be in business. The commodities that we process and ship to market to be recycled are market driven. The prices go up and down. One thing that remains constant (or goes up, never down) is the labor to separate the materials and the transportation. Recycling only works when it is profitable. We make every attempt to keep our costs down and if you help, we can offer this service for free.

The State I just moved from would pay me for the items, why dont you?

The state you lived in most likely had subsidies that assisted the recycle in their efforts with rebates. We would like to see that here so that we could divert more materials but the State of Utah, Counties and cities are far from that now. Until then we will just all have to do our part.

How do you want me to bring my recylables to you?

Clear bags are easily recylable. Please put all materials a clear plastic bags and separate by type.

Plastic #1, Plastic #2, Newspaper and inserts, metal cans (you dont need to rinse them) white paper, (shreded is Great!) and clean cardboard. when you get to our Locations please check in with the scale office and they will give you directions.

Recycling Saves Energy
Using energy requires the consumption of non-renewable fossil fuels and involves Emissions of numerous air and water pollutants. Manufacturing items from recycled material uses less energy than making those items from raw natural resources.
Recycling saves enough energy each year to provide heat and light for 400,000 homes.
Recycling Reduces Greenhouse Gas Emissions in three ways: Reducing emissions from energy consumption. Manufacturing goods from recycled materials requires less energy than producing goods from virgin materials. When less energy is needed, fewer fossil fuels are burned and less carbon dioxide is emitted to the atmosphere.
Reducing methane emissions from landfills.
By diverting organic materials from landfills, we reduce the methane released when these materials decompose.
Increasing storage of carbon in trees.
Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in wood, in a process called A carbon sequestration. Waste prevention and recycling of paper products allow more trees to remain standing in the forest. Recycling Reduces Emissions of Air and Water Pollutants Recycling produces less of 27 different types of pollutants, when compared with using virgin materials, in manufacturing products and disposing wastes.
Recycling Conserves Natural Resources
Recycling reduces the need for landfills, allowing local lands to be used in more environmentally preferable ways. And, by substituting scrap materials for the use of trees, metal ores, minerals, oil, and other virgin materials, recycling reduces the pressure to expand forestry and mining production.
