DaVinci Academy invites a school culture that blends a passion for learning with a commitment for tolerance and a desire for change. Its mission is to create students who are creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers who are prepared for the demands of a changing, global society.
Our goals are to:
Combine diverse academic areas in a logical, integrated manner with a hands-on curriculum.
Enhance the study of left-brained math and science with the artistic right-brained skills that inspire creative genius.
Inspire integrity, leadership, character, professionalism, excellence as students develop a work ethic that will prepare them to serve in business, academia, and society. We encourage a challenging curriculum, an attitude of community service and involvement, and an ethical high ground. We accept students from all backgrounds, financial circumstances, academic ranges and welcome the diversity that comes from variety, circumstance and thought. Our desired outcomes for student learning include communication, collaboration, citizenship and contemplation.
DaVinci is a fully accredited, public charter high school. DaVinci Academy welcomed the USOE accreditation team for an onsite visit April 19, 2007. We gained a full 6 year term of accreditation through the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and are active in refining and developing our school improvement plan. DaVinci is here to stay, contributing to the charter school movement in Weber County and to the development of downtown Ogden.
DaVinci Academy was the brainchild of a coalition of business, science, education and community leaders early in 2003. The concept of creating a high school in downtown Ogden that provided the knowledge and skills students needed in the 21st century was compelling for many. After months of work, DaVinci Academy was chartered by the Utah State Board of Education and opened its doors in August 2004 with the mission of integrating science and the arts after the example of the original Renaissance man, Leonardo da Vinci.
What is a Charter?
A charter school is a elementary or secondary school that receives public money but have
been freed from some of the rules, regulations, and statutes that apply to other public schools
in exchange for some type of accountability for producing certain results, which are set forth
in each school's charter. DaVinci Academy is considered a Public Charter School.
