Mobley M.D. | Utah Facial Plastic Surgeon | Salt Lake City
"Ive always been interested in how people feel about themselves as it relates to their faces. It's unfortunate that the shape of the nose or the natural signs of facial aging can lead to a negative self-image. These days people have so many new and advanced options to get the facial appearance they have always wanted. I love to see the increase in self-confidence and quality of life that follows having facial surgery. Many people are interested to learn that my other passions are providing charitable care to victims of domestic violence and to children who are bullied or teased for having big ears.

I look forward to meeting you and working together to design a treatment plan to meet your facial surgery goals."

Facial Plastic Surgery is a unique field from (General) Plastic Surgery. This is an important distinction that you need to understand. Think about it. When finding someone to perform surgery on your face, experience matters . As a Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Mobley only performs procedures of the head, face, and neck. He is board-certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, Throat, Head & Neck Surgery).
As a full-time University of Utah faculty member, Dr. Mobley is committed to excellence in the field of Facial Plastic Surgery. He has both lectured and taught his surgical techniques nationally as well as internationally. He has written numerous medical articles and book chapters on his innovations. Think about it... with his experience, Dr. Mobley is the doctor that actually teaches other doctors.
So, how do you begin? This website contains a wealth of information. You will meet personally with Dr. Mobley, and he can show you through computer-assisted imaging what kinds of changes you can expect from facial plastic surgery and from non-surgical, in-office procedures. Together, you and Dr. Mobley will formulate a treatment plan to meet your goals.

When you are contemplating cosmetic surgery, there are some important things to consider.
I have focused my education and expertise solely on the face and neck. I dont believe in doing a little bit of everything, and that benefits you.
The quality of the University of Utah is behind my practice. I am an Associate Professor of surgery in the University of Utah School of Medicine and, as such, am actively involved in the training and education of future facial plastic surgeons. I am actively researching and developing new techniques and teaching those techniques to other doctors.
Your safety is our highest priority. During your surgical procedure, a Board-Certified M.D. anesthesiologist will be caring for you.
I perform all procedures personally. If you come to me, you benefit from my expertise.
Surgery is never performed in the office setting. I use only the finest facilities, all JCAHO certified: The University of Utah Hospital Huntsman Cancer Hospital Madsen Outpatient Surgical Center Utah Surgical Center
I meet with you personally during your in-office consultation. From the beginning, I want you to feel comfortable with who will perform your surgery or other work.
I utilize computer enhancement software, so that you can see what your face will look like after surgery and/or treatment.
As a community service, I perform surgery at no cost for women who have suffered facial damage related to domestic violence.

After completing medical school, doctors must complete at least one year of additional training before they can become licensed practitioners. In order to be board certified, they must complete residency training in a specialty. ALL accredited residency training is overseen by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
Checking that your surgeon is ABMS board certified is a very important step in your decision-making, as only ABMS boards regulate accredited residency training. In order to become a Facial Plastic Surgeon, a physician must complete either an Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, & Throat Surgery) residency or a Plastic Surgery residency. After completing residency, they must complete a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship. Only after being certified by either the American Board of Otolaryngology or the American Board of Plastic Surgery (both ABMS boards) and meeting other strict requirements can they apply for certification by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Just like the ABMS boards, certification by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery requires written and oral examination by specialists in this field as well as a demonstration that a significant portion of the surgeons time is dedicated to the subspecialty of facial surgery.
In short, trust your face to a Facial Plastic Surgeon.

The Mobley Foundation for Charitable Surgery will provide otoplasty surgery (ear-pinning) to low-income school-aged children who are victims of bullying and who otherwise could not afford this operation. Otoplasty is frequently considered a cosmetic operation. However, for many children it can be so much more than just cosmetic. Many studies have shown that children with this condition rate themselves lower in physical appearance, have concentration anxiety, and report significantly more teasing than their peers. One of the reasons I decided to specialize in Facial Plastic Surgery was so that I could provide only the highest levels of expertise to my patients. I had no interest in doing it all in this field. I take great pride in the service I provide, and in the people I help.
--Maria B. says: "You have completely changed my opinion concerning facial plastic surgery and it's importance in the field of surgery. I have looked at my nose carefully lately and thank you for all you have done for me."
--Dan B. says: "I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your skill and sensitivity as a surgeon. It has been just over a year now and my nose and forehead look great. Thank you for the time and care you took and for your patience and kindness. Best wishes! "
