Wellness Through Empowerment
Knowledge and information are empowering things, so patient history is important to us. We make our patient forms available on our website so that it's easy for patients to access, and easy for patients for complete in order to get the fullest picture of whatever the ailment may be. Whether it's a chronic problem of back pain, acute headaches, an old injury associated with a trauma or fall, or a new injury that may have no apparent connection or correlation to an injury, the history plays a vital part in understanding the patient's concern, and in developing a plan to move forward to a pain-free life.
What Can I Expect?
When you walk in to The Nielsen Clinic, you're welcomed by name with a smile. We're always glad to see you.
As a new patient, one of the first things Dr. Nielsen does is an examination, while giving you and opportunity to share what you already know with Dr. Nielsen, what questions you have, and to allow Dr. Nielsen an opportunity to connect physical findings during examination with what you report as symptoms and history. The information that is gained from the exam, the history, the diagnostic testing are implemented then to create the most optimal treatment protocol when implemented and followed up many people have great success.
Chiropractic treatment is the primary treatment modality of the licensed chiropractic physician. Depending on your concern, a comprehensive neurologic exam may be given, physical examination for a specific site or region, or a simple examination of vitals to determine the most important follow up testing that will assist in diagnosis and treatment.
Diagnostic testing includes blood labs, MRI, CT Scans or X-rays or Ultra Sounds, Hormone Panels, Parasite Evaluation, and food sensitivity testing. Each of these tests are typically performed out of office, though a biological impedance scan or a ZYTO scan can be performed in office to assist in directing the evaluation of health concerns.
Nutritional recommendations are offered based upon history, physical exam or lab findings. Nutritional recommendations may include dietary modifications, nutritional supplementation, or water intake.
Other treatment recommendations include oxygen, walking, exercise, or specific brain exercises depending upon the injury or the developmental delay that needs to be corrected.
You're Not Just a List of Symptoms
Dr. Nielsen is highly knowledgeable in the area of Functional Neurology as taught by Professor Carrick of the Carrick Institute of Neurology. Many professional athletes and young children with developmental delays have been helped by Professor Carrick's work. Functional Neurology is very similar to Functional Medicine or Biological Medicine.
Functional Medicine refers to the practice of looking at the whole person from a functional perspective rather than just a list of symptoms to relieve. We believe that when the body is included as a whole in the process of healing and rehabilitation, a person can achieve optimal body wellness.
At the Nielsen Clinic, we want to give you your body back, by empowering you through wellness each and every time you visit our office.
Thank you for choosing the Nielsen Clinic.
