Utah County residents are being urged to clean out their medicine cabinets during the month of April, in a drive to dispose of some 7 million prescription drug tablets health officials believe are going unused. Residents can drop off old prescription medications at the following times and locations:
April 10 - Utah Valley University northwest parking area, 1200 W. 800 South; and Walgreeens at 1315 N. State in Provo
April 17 - Walgreens locations at 80 S. State and 763 N. State in Orem, at 815 W. State Rd. in Pleasant Grove; at 102 N. 1200 East in Lehi; and at 1410 N. Redwood Road in Saratoga Springs.

The volcanic ash plume that is currently over and still blowing towards the UK from the eruptions in Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano poses little or no threat to public health, says the UK's Health Protection Agency (HPA), however, reports are coming in that the resulting transport disruption could create considerable medical problems, for example to patients in a vulnerable state waiting for transplant stem cells from overseas.

As for the ash itself, the HPA said most people will be largely unaffected. Anyone with respiratory problems should make sure they have their inhalers with them, and there may be a need to limit outdoor activities for a while if there is a dusty haze in the air and people get irritated eyes, nose and throat, they cautioned.
